Stories from the record
A neighborhood stacked vertically
KPF designed the 555-meter, 123-story tower with offices, residences, a hotel and observation facilities. It brings different kinds of daily life together vertically rather than serving only one purpose.
Lines inspired by Korean ceramics
KPF explains that the smooth exterior references Korean ceramics. Floor areas become smaller higher up, narrowing the outline. From across Seokchon Lake, trace the curve from its broad base to the top.
Meeting places inside a slender tower
Lobbies and lounges mark transitions between uses. Behind the narrow exterior are larger spaces for gathering and pausing. Compare the building's silhouette with how people actually use its interior.
